So long 2012-2013 Annual Catalog

I re-joined Stampin' Up only in April this year. There was so much eye-candy to feast on, as well as changes, good changes. I felt like a little kid in the candy store. There was so much to try but so little time to do it. I am still stocking up on the bare necessities and now it is time to fold a new leaf again. The beginning of June marks the end of the 2012-2013 era of goodness in the world of Stampin' Up to make room for new awesomeness. If you are like me, I might detect a frown on your face upon finding out that your favorite goodie is leaving our reach for good. Before that happens, take a look at the Retiring list stamp sets and Retiring list accessories and place your order here by June 3rd before they fly away in the wind forever. They are available while supplies last.

In the meantime, have one last gaze at the outgoing 2012-2013 catalogs.

Get Ready for the Next Creative Romp

Hello, ladies! The invites have gone out for our next workshop. I am looking forward to seeing you there! Can't wait to play again. In the meantime, I hope to sprinkle you with a little bit of inspiration by perusing My Gallery. These are my creations during my heyday, from my regular workshops and stamp camps. I look at them once in awhile if I need to kickstart my creative juice. Sometimes, I wonder how I even did something on a card. It was soooo long ago!

If you are interested in attending the workshop but did not receive an invite, please contact me.

Happy Stamping!

that warm fuzzy feeling

Yes, I'm talking about that feeling you get when you feel great and high on life. That's exactly me this weekend. I credit it to the wonderful people I've met on Saturday and of course the lovelies of my life celebrating Mother's Day with me.

My dear friend, Ulrika, hosted her Stampin' Up workshop on Saturday since my reincarnation. Crazy and a hoot of fun is an understatement to describe this affair. Except for a couple of old friends, everyone at the party were new to me. I am forever grateful for their lightheartedness and openness to allow me to be creative with them in the cards that I shared. There were reminisces, card sharing and getting inspired to make this happen again. We cackled and heckled and laughed. What a rewarding feeling to see the creativity factor go from zero to sixty in a matter of hours, from following the exact details of the card in the beginning to adding their own touches in the end.

The first card we made was a variation of the brayered card we did at Stamp-a-Stack. Instead of using a brayer, we used sponges and direct-to-paper technique.

The second card only used one color: Melon Mambo and highlighted the wonders of Big Shot embossing folders.

I am looking forward to an encore of this event. I hope to see the same faces on June 1st and bring a friend or two with you to join in the hullaballoo.

Before I end this night, I want to share the wonderful Mother's Day present from my daughter. I was awakened by a nudge from my daughter who had been anxiously waiting to give me my surprise for the past two weeks and who had relentlessly given me countless hints at what it might be. In the end, she did a pretty good job of not spilling the "actual" bean. I love it, nonetheless.

Stamp-a-stack and the future

Hi, friends!

chalkboard technique
Our first Stamp-a-stack event was a huge success! Between the three talented demonstrators (yes, I'm including myself) providing and sharing their love of the craft through the cards that were taught and the ladies who gave us the privilege to unleash their talents were just overwhelming. There was wine and cheese and raffle gifts for everyone and laughter and giggles, of course. Yes, the last two seem to be a common occurrence at events like this. For six hours, the ladies stamped away and went home with 21 cards that had seven different designs. The ladies' experiences ranged from novice to seasoned, but everyone had just as much fun. The demonstrators showed different techniques in their cards. For me in particular, I demonstrated brayering and masking on one card and chalkboard technique on another. When I first thought of the card, I hesitated because I didn't want to turn people off when they first saw it, but it literally took me five minutes to put together. I have never seen anyone get so excited upon learning that I would be showing them brayering and to hear how happy they were how the card turned out was just an awesome and rewarding feeling. In between cards, we raffled off cool prizes such as templates and stamps and in the end raffled off a candy bouquet created by yours truly.

This experience is truly more than just coming up with a card to make and show people. It was about finding that happy place within oneself and being able to share moments and building relationships with those who might share the same passion. For me, it is a therapy for the soul. It makes me scratch my head why I stopped doing it in the first place.

So what's next. There's a lot in store for the future. I have a hostess party coming up this Saturday. This is with my old stamping friend whom I'm forever grateful for keeping in touch and though she didn't say it out loud often, she kept the flames lit, as tiny as it might have been, to get me to stamp again. I look forward to getting together with her and her friends this weekend.

Further into the future, it looks like I will be seeing a lot of myself in my old stomping ground as my lovely aunts gather their friends for more workshops. One of them was pretty amazed with the wonders of the Big Shot embossing tool. It made quite an impression on her.

And of course, we will make the Stamp-a-Stack a quarterly event for the three demonstrators. It's a great opportunity for the three of us to bond and be each other's inspiration.
